Shannon Sweeney is a PhD student in the Media, History, and Culture program. She got her MFA in Film and Television Studies from Boston University. Her research revolves around media industries, television studies, and taste hierarchies. Through studying television's relationship to culture, Shannon is interested in the way the media industries—in their various forms—weave their way into our lives, helping to create or reinforce our preferences, rituals, and identities. In her courses, students are introduced to the skills they need to navigate their media-rich lives within a rapidly-changing media landscape.
