Mengmeng received her M.A. degree in Media Studies from the Radio, Television and Film department at the University of Texas at Austin. Her M.A. thesis studies the #MeToo movement in China, where she examines the precarious #MeToo feminist activism and the subversive feminist resistance in counter to state censorship and online misogynistic backlash.

As a feminist media scholar, Mengmeng is interested in gender, feminist activism, and queerness in the Chinese digital media sphere.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, caring for her mental health, and being a feminist killjoy with her beloved friends.
