Akintunde Babatunde is a Ph.D. student in Media and Communication at the University of Iowa. His research examines the geopolitics of digital platform governance, focusing on how power, regulation, and democratic accountability intersect in the global media ecosystem.
Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from media studies, communication, development studies, and policy analysis, Akintunde’s work explores how digital platforms shape societal change—particularly in the Global South. By employing both qualitative and interpretive approaches, his research investigates the ways states, corporations, and civic actors negotiate control over digital spaces and the implications for democracy and information integrity.
His broader interests include media policy, political communication, and the role of technology in governance and global development.
