Akintunde Babatunde is a Ph.D. student in Media and Communication at the University of Iowa. His research explores the relationship between global media and democracy, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that integrates media studies, communication, development studies, and policy analysis. His work focuses on the challenges and opportunities at the intersection of media, digital platform regulation, and democratic governance. By employing both qualitative and quantitative methods, Akintunde examines how digital platforms shape societal change, particularly in the Global South. His research emphasizes the role of media technology in governance and policy, with a particular focus on using digital tools to combat disinformation and strengthen the integrity of information ecosystems.
